Presentation at the Gunmakers Arms

To mark the half-way point of the Birmingham Children of War project several volunteers will be talking about their findings about the lives of children in Birmingham during the First World War in an illustrated presentation at the historic Gunmakers Arms on Bath Street on Wednesday 7th December at 7pm.

Come along and find out what we’ve learned about the impacts of the War on education, health, juvenile crime and the introduction of nurseries and creches. Hear how Birmingham welcomed Belgian refugee families and how it tackled rising rates of juvenile delinquency. You’ll also hear about how we’ve done the research and how you sometimes glean vital information from surprising sources.

Further details can be seen here:  Gunmakers Arms . No need to book – food and great beer available. But do wrap up warm as we’ll be in the brewery!
